Let Your Light Shine

If it is true that all things work together for good, the we must not let circumstances bring us down nor dim our light. It says in A Course in Miracles that man's function is to be the salvation of the world. It has also been said that Jesus is the Light of the world.  The Bible says that we were "Created in the image and likeness of the Creator".  Jesus also said that we would do greater things than he did.  These verses make it clear that, if we are to do as Jesus commanded us to do, "Pick up our cross and follow him", then we, too must be a light in the world.

A lighthouse is a beacon which will guide us Home.  A ship, looking for Home searches for the guiding light of a lighthouse.  The beacon shines steadily at all times and the worse the conditions, the more welcome is its sight.  Man, if he is to fulfill his function, must be a light unto the world.  In order for man's light to shine, he must first understand who he is.

We are all gods, children of the most high God.  We, like our Father, are love.  When we are in our pure state, we are nothing but pure love and that loves serves as a beacon to all mankind.  When we act out of pure love, our Light shines brightly. Unfortunately, many of us lose our way and our lights are dimmed by the many forms of insecurity - ager, jealousy, envy, fear, etc.  Our blessing is that our light will never go completely our- it can only be obscured.
